To quote Sinead O'Connor, Universal Mother, “An american army regulation says you must not kill more than ten percent of a nation because to do so causes permanent psychological damage; it's not permanent but they didn't know that...”
If you have something that isn't rightfully yours... what would your mother want you to do?12/19/2015 In Canada and the US many things are backwards, none more so than the notion of “reserves.” Indeed the cities/occupied land should be “reserves.” Care and nurturing of rest should be returned to those it was stolen from, the ones who's hearts still break every day for the damage done to their mother earth – the first nations. Then there is the question of compensation, which, given the enormity of the past crimes – culturcide, murder, rape, child abduction, raping children, genocide - should be absolutely anything they think their people need to heal and grow strong with their own faith in tact, honoured and respected. Without this, how how can the First Nations loose their fear of us immigrants?; fear is a barrier to complete healing and that is why the overall governor of Canada should be a First Nations Chief who as the respect of his people. Trust is integral to all human relationships.
To quote Sinead O'Connor, Universal Mother, “An american army regulation says you must not kill more than ten percent of a nation because to do so causes permanent psychological damage; it's not permanent but they didn't know that...”

Spiritual Healing
To teach children of spirit animals is (at the very least) an advanced and intelligent way to teach emotions. The idea of “personality” is too fixed, boxing people's minds into whatever another person prefers them to be, particularity harmful in gender stereotyping and racism. Though I believe it to be more than this, in that I believe in the spirit of Mother Earth and the Spirits of both animals and flora, this article will be explained in a "western" manner. With teaching the idea of channelling a spirit animal the child knows that if the need to be they can be as brave as a lion, or feel as loyal as a dog, as brave as a bear or as wily as a coyote if they need to be. That lets them just be who they want to be, who they naturally are. We are all good inside, but if we are forced to fit the demands of others it puts a pressure inside us that could lead to harm to the person's behaviour. So, in that way, we can see that a person behaving badly for any reason is a person in need of help. Of course if that behaviour harms others and cannot be contained, there would need to be a degree of isolation until they were safe and well, happy and healed. I believe that all people, like all dogs, are good inside and it is combinations of religion, upbringing, faith, bias and fear that separate us. And so, to quote Sinead O'Connor on her Universal Mother Album with “ Knowledge and understanding can be forgiving and then actual healing.” Folks these days in the west are showing an aversion to women covering themselves in the "islamic" way. I understand the point of women not wanting to be dominated and being forced to "hide," so isn't that what they should express? A fear that in the future they could loose their rights? In that case they need to do some soul searching and realize that they are acting on fear. Perhaps someone could fear them based on their skin colour, social grouping or religion. Can that person then act against them? Should they be enabled to do so?
Covering the hair is in many cultures including my own. British women used to love wearing headscarves, sometimes in combination with sunglasses. I often see people with a baseball cap on and a hoodie pulled over the top, hiding hair, neck and a portion of the face, plus hiding the eyes if they wish. So, we already accept the right to show or cover whatever part of you you like, so what is it with the fuss over the muslim dress? Are we arguing about fashion? Are we that shallow? Or is it xenophobia? Or is it racism? Is it religious intolerance? Is it fear? Because when you push past the 'veil' the questions become far more interesting. I dreamt last night about the concept of absolute morality vs flexibility in different cultures, to my dreaming brain it was the same as a flower. In the centre was love with all the positive values essential to a functioning society and the petals were different cultures and belief systems that bring people closer to love, to God, or to however they conceptualize goodness. I got up, made a note, went back to sleep. So today I'm super excited to make it into a blog post! The dream wasn't just of a daisy-like flower, it was more detailed than that. Only ideas that are opposites can be sorted to go into the centre, so like love and hate, the positive emotion is assigned a number one and hate is assigned a zero. Only the number one's go into the centre of the morality vs. culture flower. Beliefs that bring one closer to Love, to God, to the Divine, to Goodness are the beautiful petals. So for me, I can build the centre of my own morality flower like this: love 1 hate 0 kindness 1 cruelty 0 forgiveness 1 grudges 0 grace 1 intolerance 0 save 1 kill 0 self love 1 selfishness 0 truth 1 lies 0 .... you get the idea! Only the number one's go into the centre to make up the morality you personally won't compromise on. But I believe there is a set of values we can all agree on, and that would be an absolute morality for humanity. We are all born with love in our hearts and souls, all with the same moral compass, but in this crazy world of persuasion and spin we can act in ways fundamentally against the peace and mercy that should reign within us. For me the many cultures of the world are the beautiful petals, and who among us would want a world without flowers? Love to all, Daisy P.S. Thank you to Hester for your comment, I guess for you Jesus is at the centre of your "flower" and from there radiates the wonderful petals. I can tell you why the Liberals won in Canada and it's solid evidence of the most important lesson every writer needs to know.
While our conscious minds understand negation the subconscious does not. Sounds unreal, right? Back to the election: Attack adds ran over and over "Justin Trudeau, he's just not ready!" The conscious mind hears the statement as intended, the subconscious hears: "Justin Trudeau, he's just ready!" And here is the kicker for the writers of the attack ads - the real driver of all human action is the subconscious. It is our more primitive animal brains that drive our behaviours. So the lesson is: After every first draft of a piece you must read it again omitting the negation to understand what message will go into the subconscious of your reader. Know the message you are really writing, be clear! This post is dedicated to you, you wonderful darling God's child...
Just as journalists have a duty to report facts honestly, creative writers have a duty to report emotions and feelings with integrity. Put simply, things that are truly horrible should turn the stomach not invite excitement. If as writers we make horror and death exciting instead of painful to witness, we do society an enormous disservice. Violence of every kind should never be sugar coated or glamourized. As clever as we humans are, we fail to comprehend the full terror and anguish of war and tragedy when we consume it like candy in our various media. Perhaps you don't agree, maybe you feel it's harmless. I recently witnesses a cooking show (cue Hetal) where one contestant was a life long vegetarian and the others consumed meat on a regular basis. When confronted with the skinned heads of decapitated mammals all except the vegetarian laughed or showed amusement; she was the only one in the room with a proper reaction - she cried and showed visible trauma. Here in the west, what most families do (mine included) is to show children humanized animals in cartoons and them feed them ham for lunch. It's no wonder our reactions aren't as wonderful as Hetal's (the vegetarian). What we are exposed to on a daily basis, no matter how benign it appears, has a real effect on the way we view our world, humanity and our fellow creatures. If as writers we write about violence and abuse in any form it should shake the reader up, wake them up to the real and long lasting consequences of such actions. What writers do really matters. All societies are more educated by their cultural stories than their schools and we are no different. If I read about a rape I should want to vomit, if it's murder I should feel wounded inside. Pain isn't fun. Death isn't glamour. Let's get it right. Understanding the link between dreams, poetry and creative writing can be enormously helpful to the writer. Our subconscious minds only communicate in the language of dreams and that comes out to play in our poetry and creative writing.
When we work we can look back at our own writing to understand our own brains better. We can also learn how to communicate ideas to others more clearly. Our minds are hardwired to seek ideas that speak of struggles in metaphors rather than direct speech, the themes of "light" vs "dark" symbolizing "good" vs "evil" is common. Our subconscious minds also have particular difficulty with language that involves negatives, or worse - double negatives! Examples: "The night brought an unrelenting darkness that wrapped their eyes and mouths and buried them beneath a starless sky." - very easy to understand, to our conscious it paints a picture of a dark night, to our subconscious it says "I feel like the 'dark side'/'negative energy' is winning and I'm suffering." "I won't ever leave you, hurt you or lie to you." - again, our conscious minds have no problem understanding that the speaker means well, but to our less language orientated subconscious minds it sounds more like "I leave hurt lie" - not the same message at all! So with positive statements it is important to use positive phrasing "I will always stay with you, love you and be your friend." Look for the metaphors in poetry, in your own writing and in your dreams - your brain is speaking to you. Time to listen! You'll be a better writer for it! So, I had a great new idea, I might use it in the "are you awake yet book" but I don't have time to write that chapter right now.
Anyway, here's the idea - wouldn't it be crazy if regular songs were really conversations, bare with me, I'll explain with an example (this is a paranormal fantasy genre idea for the most part) Song by Tears for Fears : Everybody wants to rule the world [Angels]- Welcome to your life; there's no turning back Even while we sleep we will find You acting on your best behavior [Dark force/Devil] - Turn your back on mother nature Ev'rybody wants to rule the world [The person writing the song] - It's my own desire, it's my own remorse Help me to decide. Help me make the most Of freedom and of pleasure [Dark force/Devil] - Nothing ever lasts forever Everybody wants to rule the world [Positive force/God] - There's a room where the light won't find you Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down When they do, I'll be right behind you So glad we've almost made it... Hi, I'm such a cavewoman! I don't know how to reply to the comments properly so here's a post instead.
Your comments were so lovely, thank you, thank you. It's nice of you to invite me to Wattpad, however I shall be sticking with Descriptionari. I know Wattpad is a giant but my work on Descriptionari has been read by millions of readers around the world. Plus, although they are both good for writers, they are very different sites. Descriptionari was founded as a way to help aspiring writers across the globe, it's both a resource and a platform for developed writers. Also, I'm forty with teenage children of my own, it would be kinda like me pulling up a chair in high-school, not cool. When you feel like you reached an adult level of writing, even if you're in your late teens, perhaps try writing on Descriptionari instead. Giving back feels really good! Take care Ashphodel and Anon, keep writing! |
