In Canada and the US many things are backwards, none more so than the notion of “reserves.” Indeed the cities/occupied land should be “reserves.” Care and nurturing of rest should be returned to those it was stolen from, the ones who's hearts still break every day for the damage done to their mother earth – the first nations. Then there is the question of compensation, which, given the enormity of the past crimes – culturcide, murder, rape, child abduction, raping children, genocide - should be absolutely anything they think their people need to heal and grow strong with their own faith in tact, honoured and respected. Without this, how how can the First Nations loose their fear of us immigrants?; fear is a barrier to complete healing and that is why the overall governor of Canada should be a First Nations Chief who as the respect of his people. Trust is integral to all human relationships.
To quote Sinead O'Connor, Universal Mother, “An american army regulation says you must not kill more than ten percent of a nation because to do so causes permanent psychological damage; it's not permanent but they didn't know that...”
