Once upon a time there was a dancing bug. The bug loved to play with words, he called people sweetheart though he really meant he wanted to eat their sweet heart. He loved to play with language and misdirect people, that’s what made him happy because he had the heart of a bug. There was no Love in the bug's heart, only a cold darkness that was partially alleviated by the mean kind of mischief. It was not his fault that he was born without Love, but his heart was cold because he was a bug.
The bug filled his time with misdirecting the people, enjoying giving words double meanings. Knowing that people Love the light he said, “hello, I’m de-lighted to meat you.” The bug sought out words that meant the same things but had different spellings because it made the double talk all the simpler. The bug saw a small glint of fear in the eyes of the people and smiled inwardly. This, he told himself, is going to be “sweet,” because to the bug causing fear was what he lived for (bugs don't know any other way to be).
The bug showed the people new games to play with their young. They were to pretend the beloved babies were delicious, playing games where their baby was “so delicious they wanted to eat them up.” Then the parents would retreat and laugh - like eating your child was a funny joke. The bug rubbed his six hands together and thought up some more games for them to play. It would be a great prank the bug thought, if they would teach their children to love animals and to eat them at the same time, more confusion meant more control for the bug and that was the power he craved. Bugs don't care about money, they use power to cause pain, because then they can clap their sticky feet again and feel an evil surge of de-light. "Perhaps," the bug thought, "some new and more exciting stories would be fun, these people need to learn what a real adrenaline pumping buzz is, the thrill of the kill." The bug planted some new ideas, they can teach the “little angels” that they are pigs running for their lives (The Three Little Pigs), or that they are thieves who steal gold (Jack and the Beanstalk) or that they don’t care about the rights of others (Goldilocks and the three bears). Then he sat back to watch the “merry mayhem.” “Now,” said the bug, “this is fun!” But the bug took malicious glee in the story Handsel and Gretel most of all because it taught them that lies that Love was a sham, weak and would not save them. The bug hoped that would be true, but as we all know, Love always wins, oops, me and my big mouth, was I supposed to keep you waiting for the relief at the end of the story, sorry beloved, I choose to be kind. Please read on. I haven't finished the story. Anyway, on with the intriguing tale of how the nasty bug was beaten.
As the children became scared of their own parents and the parents insisted that they cared and loved them, the children lost trust and became just as de-lighted as the parents. Did they care or scare, those things are different! The monsters Inc. plot can't work if they are the same thing! That was very confusing! The children didn’t want to listen anymore, the parents were not speaking the language of Love at all and since the children were direct from Love, they knew the difference better than anyone. "Oh ho!" said the bug, the children are sinful! Spare the rod, spoil the child. The people loved their children so much that they raised their hands in anger at their own beloved angels and in so doing damaged themselves in the process. The bug was so pleased he clapped his hands many many times.
The bug started making a wicked plan than he thought was “sweet.” The people of Love just wanted to love one another on this perfect world and the bug said “No, Love makes this bug sick.” Realizing that Love made him sick he tried even harder to eradicate it. The people seemed to need it but watching them suffer gave the repulsive insect a glee he could get no other way (I did tell you he was a nasty bug). The bug could not touch or access real Love and so in his temper the sticky footed fiend set out to destroy everything Love had built. If the bug could not create like Love then the bug would try to destroy it. The bug would say "bwa ha ha" as they tore down trees and polluted the oceans. The only problem for Mr exoskeleton was that the people all “magically” navigateded back to Love, like He’d put a compass in them all so they would never get lost. Why, the people of Love would keep repairing themselves like a magical doll. Keeping his game going was going to be hard work for this manipulative cold-blood.
Well, that made the bug mad, madder than a hatter, so the bug doubled down on his work to destroy the planet and all that Love had created. He started to weave new things into the language, he taught lies such as “love hurts” and “wicked is good.” Well, the effects were more stunning than he’d dreamed of, the compasses went spinning and the people called out for Love and found no answer. Direct contact was lost. Love promised never to leave the people and so although Love was still in the people and outside of them, the communication became scrambled by the efforts of the bug. But the bug is only a bug, and in time the people figured out that he was only a bug.
When they figured out what he was doing they found that Love had never left them at all, all that time He’d been screaming out to them as loud as He could, I Love you, I Love you, I Love you. He had screamed to them from Love songs, he had inspired writers and movie makers. But the bug had been at work too, influencing the same people. But Love is a virtuous cycle, and so though the fix took far longer than expected, the bug was found and told to leave. This world was created by Love and He did not want the bug in it. Without the bug the people woke up as if they’d been under heavy hypnosis. Love said, “wake up” and clap your hands three times.
The people did and though the world didn’t look any different they felt so much better, so much more alive, so free. Their minds were alive with new creativity and thought of how to build a better world, a heaven on earth. They weren’t content with fixing the buggy system, they wanted an entirely different one, one with virtuous cycles as the core principle of every idea. Now that money had been identified as an idea of the bug, they thought in new ways. There was no debt, there was sunshine, rain, green plants and warmth. But most of all, Love was back, and this time He was Home to stay.
And they all lived happily ever after. The bug continued to try over and over to destroy Earth but no harm came to the planet that Love had made. The bug was trapped in a box that looked just the same, a virtual world, and thrash though he tried, he couldn’t access Love or Love’s planet Earth at all. Love told the people that the bug was fixed and to simply continue implementing virtuous cycles until heaven was achieved, He would be helping them through Love all the way. Btw, He does like humour and jokes, laughter is a key way we heal and bond, just thought you might like to know.
